Once is a check. Twice means something is pulling too much, often a weak capacitor or a contactor salt has pitted. Leave it off and call.

What happens on a repair visit

We test in a sensible order: thermostat and airflow, then the capacitor, contactor, and disconnect. The condensate drain. The outdoor coil if the unit sits near open water. Refrigerant only after leaks and coil condition are understood.
You hear the finding in plain language. A failed capacitor is not a sales appointment. A pitted coil on a Jupiter Inlet lot is not a forever repair. Both answers get said out loud.
Salt air changes the repair
Condensers within a short drive of the Atlantic, the Jupiter Inlet, the Intracoastal, the Loxahatchee in Tequesta, or a North Palm Beach canal collect salt film. Coils lose their ability to reject heat. Contactors pit. A rinse and a new contactor can be the whole job — or they can show that the coil is already too far gone.
A house west of the Turnpike in Jupiter Farms, or a golf-course lot in Palm Beach Gardens, usually has a different problem: long runtimes, attic heat, and ducts that were never quite right. We do not use the beach diagnosis on an inland house.

Yes. Waterfront and near-water equipment in Jupiter, Tequesta, Juno Beach, and North Palm Beach is a normal part of the work. We look harder at the coil and the electrical parts, because salt gets there first.
Will you tell me if replacement is the better spend?
Yes. If the repair is reasonable, we say so. If the coil is flaking, the compressor failed on an old system, or the house stays clammy after the obvious faults are fixed, replacement deserves a look.
